A 1991 Honda NSX once owned by Formula 1 legend Ayrton Senna is set to hit the auction block, with an estimated value of £500,000 to £800,000. RM Sotheby’s will host the sale on October 31, 2026, at The London Auction at the Peninsula London. This particular NSX, chassis T000233, holds significant historical value due to its association with Senna and its extensive use during his career.
This Formula Red NSX, originally registered in Portugal, was one of three NSXs Senna had access to globally. When Senna was in Europe, this red SX-25-59 example would be delivered to him whenever he arrived in Portugal. During the 1991 Formula 1 season, Senna frequently used this car while in Europe, including driving it to the Portuguese Grand Prix at Estoril.
RM Sotheby’s notes that Senna ‘made good use of the car’ during this period, as he had purchased property in a resort near Faro. The vehicle also appeared in the documentary Ayrton Senna: Racing Is in My Blood, showcasing Senna performing a burnout, though it is not the same NSX featured in the iconic video of him driving around the Suzuka circuit in loafers.

Since Senna’s passing, the NSX has changed hands multiple times. Notably, it was kept on the road by a UK-based owner until May 2016 and later visited Imola in 2019 with Giancarlo Minardi to commemorate 25 years since Senna’s death. The car has accumulated over 633,000 kilometers to date, a sign of its enduring reliability and the legacy of its famous owner. Its high mileage shows its role not just as a collector’s item but as a well-loved and frequently used vehicle throughout its history.
The auction will also feature other notable vehicles, including a Ferrari 250 GT/L Berlinetta Lusso by Scaglietti and a Ferrari F40 Competizione, both valued at around £2 million. These cars, alongside Senna’s NSX, highlight the prestigious nature of The London Auction, which attracts collectors and enthusiasts from around the world. The inclusion of such high-profile vehicles ensures that the event will be a significant moment in the automotive auction calendar.
