Yokohama launches new tyres for SUVs

Yokohama India has launched its GEOLANDAR X-CV tyre range for crossover and premium SUVs in India, bringing the company’s premium SUV tyre technology to a wider group of vehicles.

The new range will be available in sizes ranging from 16 to 20 inches, with the company planning to offer 32 sizes to cover compact, mid-size, and premium crossover SUVs.

They are designed to offer a mix of safety, comfort, durability, and performance, using Micro Silica technology to improve grip on wet roads while reducing rolling resistance.

The tyres also feature an asymmetric tread pattern to improve steering response, wet-road grip, and stability at higher speeds, with four wide grooves to help remove water from the tyre surface, improving wet braking and reducing the chances of aquaplaning.

2D-3D Combination Sipes are designed to provide better wet grip and more even tyre wear, while 5-Pitch Variation Technology reduces road noise and offers a quieter drive, making them suitable for road test conditions.

For Indian road conditions, the GEOLANDAR X-CV comes with a reinforced two-ply sidewall and Full Nylon Cover, aimed at improving durability and stability, especially at higher speeds.

The new range is also compatible with electric vehicles, with a construction designed to handle the higher weight and quick torque delivery of EVs while maintaining durability and performance, which is a key consideration for many buyers.

It is growing quickly.

Customers are looking for tyres that offer safety, comfort, low noise, and long life – a trend that the GEOLANDAR X-CV is well-positioned to address, given its focus on these key areas, according to journalists on the scene.

The product was launched in the presence of Nitin Mantri, Chairman of Yokohama India, Anil Gupta, Vice Chairman of Yokohama India, and Harinder Singh, Managing Director and CEO of Yokohama India, who noted that customers are looking for tyres that offer a range of benefits.

Singh stated that the GEOLANDAR X-CV is designed to meet these needs, offering a range of features that make it an attractive option for buyers.

The GEOLANDAR X-CV will be available from August 2026 through Yokohama Club Network outlets and selected authorised dealers across India.

Customers will also get a no-cost EMI option on the new tyre range as an introductory offer, making it more accessible to a wider range of buyers.

With its wide range of sizes and features, the GEOLANDAR X-CV is set to be a significant player in the Indian tyre market, particularly in the growing crossover SUV segment, where it will compete with other premium tyre options.
