Humax EV Charging will unveil its new Humax MX PRO 22kW EV charger at Fleet & Mobility Live, taking place at the NEC Birmingham on October 6-7.
Designed for Commercial Expansion
The charger has been developed specifically for commercial fleets, depots, workplace settings, commercial buildings and apartment complexes. It combines intelligent charging technology with an installation architecture meant to grow with an organization’s electric vehicle needs.
Sites can be pre-wired using the MX PRO backplate and protective dummy cover, referred to as MX Ready, allowing electrical preparation before each charger is needed. As fleet demand increases, additional units can be added to the prepared backplates without requiring further wiring.
Daisy-chain connectivity reduces cabling, while dynamic load balancing distributes available power across multiple chargers efficiently.
Matthew McMullan, director of automotive and energy at Humax EV Charging, explained the design philosophy: “Fleet electrification is not simply about installing more charge points. Operators require infrastructure that is straightforward to deploy today but does not restrict what they can do tomorrow.” He added that the MX PRO addresses future-proofing installations and minimizing infrastructure disruption.
Technology and Integration
The Humax MX PRO supports automatic charging initiation when a recognized vehicle connects, and offers “Plug & Charge” capability via ISO 15118-2 for secure identification without apps or RFID cards. It provides accurate billing and includes a 4.3-inch LCD display with charging information and a digital QR code.
Connectivity features include a built-in 4G eSIM, which allows network providers to be changed without replacing physical SIMs across individual chargers. The platform supports OCPP 1.6J and is upgradeable to OCPP 2.0.1, enabling integration with various charge point management platforms.
McMullan emphasized the charger’s agnostic approach to CPMS, noting integrations with Monta, Fuuse, and Ta, with openness to other providers. He stated, “Fleet operators increasingly look for the freedom to choose the software ecosystem that works for their business, without losing access to specialist hardware support.” This approach maintains flexibility at the CPMS level while ensuring Humax remains connected for diagnostics and maintenance.
The MX PRO delivers up to 22kW three-phase charging, supports single- and three-phase installations, and includes connectivity options like Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, PLC, and V2G readiness. Rated IP54 and IK10, it incorporates electrical protections and is available for wall or pole mounting.
Humax has deployed over 18,000 EV chargers in South Korea, gaining experience in both residential and commercial environments. McMullan noted that the MX PRO combines lessons from large-scale operations with UK fleet customer demands for simpler installation, easier expansion, open integration, and next-generation readiness.
The MX PRO will be available by the end of November through UK wholesalers and distributors, priced at £1,099 including VAT, though installation costs are excluded and prices may vary. Each model comes with up to three years of manufacturer warranty and support from Humax’s approved network.
