One such game is Over the Hill, which combines stylized, minimalist graphics with off-road simulation. Developed by Funselektor, the studio behind Art of Rally, Over the Hill promises to deliver numerous fully explorable open world maps, featuring diverse environments like grassy plains, swamps, and snow-capped mountains. The game will feature full day/night cycles and dynamic weather, and players will be able to explore these maps in customisable cars inspired by real-world retro 4x4s, such as lookalike versions of classic Land Rovers, FJ Land Cruisers, Jeep Wagoneers, and so on.
Over the Hill will be playable solo or in co-op mode with up to four players, with off-road kit like winches and planks available to help players handle tricky terrain. A photo mode is also confirmed, allowing players to capture images of wildlife roaming the maps to fill an in-game compendium.
According to the report, Over the Hill has garnered significant interest, with over 1.2 million wishlists on Steam. The game is set to launch on Steam on 14 October, with PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and Switch 2 versions confirmed for release in 2027.
