Chinese vehicle manufacturers are accounting for one-in-six fleet leasing enquiries (15.8%) and 17% of Leasing.com’s electric vehicle (EV) fleet market year-to-date. BYD holds a 41.6% share of all Chinese fleet enquiries to Leasing.com, with the BYD Seal and BYD Sealion 7 the most requested Chinese vehicles in fleet, capturing 17% and 16.9% of the Chinese segment, respectively. Almost two-thirds (61%) of all fleet enquiries for Chinese manufacturers are for fully electric models, outpacing the wider UK fleet market’s 56% EV share.
Market Share and Model Rankings
BYD maintains a dominant lead, taking 41.6% of all Chinese brand fleet enquiries so far this year. The BYD Seal tops the fleet list at 17% of Chinese enquiries (around 2.7% of the total fleet market). The BYD Sealion 7 sits just behind in second at 16.9%, while the Jaecoo 7 (9.3%) and Jaecoo 5 (7.8%) take third and fourth place.
Year-on-year data highlights just how significant a successful launch month can be in the UK fleet sector. In 2025, during its primary introductory phase, the Jaecoo 7 commanded 27.8% of all Chinese fleet enquiries. While that share has settled to 9.3% year-to-date, as more competitors like Leapmotor and Xpeng enter the market, it demonstrates the immediate traction new, well-priced models can generate among company car drivers. Market Entry Insights
The latest Ennis & Co report reveals the five pressure points that are critical for new entrants to succeed and where incumbents can still regain advantage. Authored by automotive specialist Andy Carroll, the report draws on recent UK launch activity and insights from senior leaders who have delivered market-entry programmes over the past 18 months. They suggest that pace, discipline and organisational readiness now matter more than heritage or scale.
The report, ‘Five themes every automotive entry must get right’, also outlines where established brands can still win, the overlooked areas of activity which are slowing incumbents, and the decisions that determine whether a business accelerates or is overtaken. For new entrants, the findings offer a practical view of what is required to build a credible foothold in a market that rewards discipline and punishes hesitation.
Lynda Ennis, co-founder of Ennis & Co said: “This report is designed to give leaders of both new entrants and established brands, clear, actionable insight. “Of the five themes we highlight, the most demanding is people. They sit at the centre of everything. “Skills and tools matter, but they only deliver when a team moves with shared purpose. “As the market shifts, so do people and every leader must ensure their organisation is moving in the right direction. This report is a strong starting point for that conversation.”
Ennis & Co has been supporting Chinese brands in Europe with their people resourcing needs for more than 10 years, including both permanent and interim hires, and has been engaged in all aspects of their businesses. Whilst much has been written on specific elements of the current wave of brand launches in the UK, it says that this report brings together a broad range of experience and expertise, to create a holistic 360-degree guide on five key aspects of a successful market launch.
